Leadership and Learning

At the crux of CHEST as an organization is its educational offerings. Without its members, who volunteer their time to serve as faculty in leadership positions, the education provided by CHEST wouldn’t be possible.

A sincere thank you is extended to every member of CHEST who takes the time to lend their expertise to improve chest medicine and patient care.

Offering forums for leadership, education, and advocacy, the CHEST Networks—special interest groups that focus on specific areas of chest medicine—underwent a major transition in 2022.

The new structure provides members with more opportunities to act as content experts in CHEST initiatives and consists of 7 Networks with 22 Sections. The number of Networks and Sections allows for more leadership opportunities for members, including the positions of Section chairs, vice-chairs, and members-at-large. The layered approach helps reduce silos, foster collaboration between groups, and allows members of the chest medicine community to be integrated into Network opportunities.

90% of section chairs have never held a CHEST leadership role.
