GET TO KNOW YOUR LEADERSHIP
Q&A With Ramesh Babu Kesavan, MBBS, FCCP
Diffuse Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Network Member-at-Large
CHEST member since 2006
May 27, 2025
Where do you work?
HCA Houston Healthcare, Kingwood, Texas.
What are your research interests?
Interstitial lung disease (ILD) education and pulmonary physiology.
What led you to join your Network?
I was out of academics for nine years, and when I decided to return, I applied to join the Network. With my past experience with end-stage lung disease and lung transplant, I felt this is the home I need to be in. As a fellowship director, ILD education has been my passion. There is no other place I could think of than the Network to grow that passion.
What achievements are you most proud of contributing to within your Network?
Being a community pulmonary physician, I feel there needs to be a bridge between academic and community physicians. This would enhance the quality of training and pulmonary practice in communities. Advocating for this cause has been a prime focus for me.
How has being in a Network benefited your career and your experience as a CHEST member?
I enjoy the Network meetings, which enable my interactions with leaders in the field. Being a fellowship director, it has been a stimulus to encourage my fellows to participate in CHEST early on in their careers.
What are your hobbies?
Traveling
What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
Work has been my lifeline. I always longed to return back to work after a break.
