Dupilumab Improves Health-Related Quality of Life and Respiratory Symptoms in Patients With COPD and Type 2 Inflammation

A pooled analysis of two phase 3 trials suggests that dupilumab demonstrated improvements in St. George’s Respiratory Questionnaire and Evaluating Respiratory Symptoms in COPD total and domain scores in patients with COPD and type 2 inflammation.


CRITICAL CARE

Modified Cuff Leak Test for Predicting the Risk of Reintubation in Patients With Invasive Mechanical Ventilation

A multicenter, single-blind, randomized controlled trial suggests that the modified cuff leak test approach might better predict postextubation stridor within 24 hours of extubation, but it was not shown to help decrease the reintubation incidence and mortality.

Estimating the Causal Effect of Double-Blind Peer Review for a Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Journal

A retrospective study of manuscripts submitted to the journal CHEST from January 2020 to June 2024 indicates that double-blind peer review did not differentially affect authors by gender but did by presumed English fluency.

Diagnostic Yield and Synergistic Impact of Needle Aspiration and Forceps Biopsy With Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy for Peripheral Pulmonary Lesions

A randomized controlled trial suggests that the combination of electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy-guided needle aspiration and forceps biopsy may significantly improve the overall diagnostic yield and sensitivity compared with either approach alone for diagnosing pulmonary lesions with a favorable safety profile.
