In addition to featuring top-tier research and 300 clinical sessions, CHEST 2024 debuted new educational digital games, live games, and a live escape room experience. CHEST also hosted eight Master Classes, including one covering interstitial lung disease (ILD) that attracted 83 registrants. 3,705 accepted abstracts and case reports showed the increased interest of new PCCM researchers, and the abstracts serve as a vital resource of the latest research for CHEST journal portfolio to source content.
Attendees practiced their clinical skills during simulation training led by renowned CHEST faculty. The 30 on-site courses included Transesophageal Echocardiography for the Intensivist, Airway Foreign Body Management, Bronchoscopic Management of Bleeding, and many others.

CHEST partnered with three local Boston organizations as part of our CHEST Community Connections initiative. CHEST volunteers spent one morning on-site with the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP), distributing health resources and education to BHCHP clients as part of the HER Saturday Clinic and Respite programs. Social media videos were a great way to build excitement and engage attendees during the meeting, including a moving countdown to the first day of the conference. The Opening Session and CHEST Challenge were live streamed to audiences who may not have been able to take time away from the hospital. Throughout the meeting, CHEST shared daily recap videos and other posts to engage attendees, including a spotlight on mother/daughter CHEST members.
CHEST Daily News provided coverage of the meeting for attendees who may have missed a session and for those at home wanting to follow along. Producing the highly valued meeting program (We ran out!) and 16 emails before, during, and following the conference, CHEST Daily News provided 70 pieces of content covering the annual meeting.
Boston gave us the largest media presence in recent years with 22 on-site press attendees and 17 off-site reporters requesting the press kit and on-demand access to content following the meeting. This generated 95 interview requests, as well as 175 articles and videos covering the conference, by publications such as HealthDay, Healio Pulmonology, Medscape, Pulmonology Advisor, Physician’s Weekly, NEJM Journal Watch, The American Journal of Managed Care, Rare Disease Advisor, and MedPage Today.
