Where do you work?
I am currently a full-time staff physician at the Veterans Affairs Loma Linda Healthcare System in California and Professor at the Pulmonary, Critical Care, Hyperbaric, and Sleep Medicine division of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. I also hold a position as one of the Associate Program Directors for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship.
What are your research interests?
Quality improvement and patient safety improvement.
What led you to join your Network?
I joined the Network to be able to expand my ability to help and mentor early career clinicians and, if I can, impact policies to contribute to the quality and safe care of our patients who entrust their lives to us.
What achievements are you most proud of contributing to within your Network?
I am proud of helping young career members develop and promote their careers.
How has being in a Network benefited your career and your experience as a CHEST member?
I have been able to meet and get to know people who have the same interests as I do. Being active in the Network helped me learn a lot about how CHEST is run and helped my career in terms of academic promotion.
What are your hobbies?
Golf, watching musical concerts, and reading.
What is something you cannot live without (after family and friends)?
International cuisine.
Is there anything else you'd like to share with your Network peers?
With my experience in business school and law school, I am interested in how we can use our evidence-based, scientific knowledge and implement this in health care policies to best help our patients now and in the future.
